AKC Herding PBCA 12/06-07/08

Marla Bowman and her corgi Coal got their PT this weekend - I'm so proud of them! Marla said that as she walked she could hear me saying "stick to the fence, don't let the dog get ahead of you" - and that she's learning to feel the sheep. That's a good thing to realize - makes knowing when the dog is correct soooo much easier.

Kestrel got two legs this weekend on Advanced ducks with a 1st and 2nd. Here we are penning them up at the end. She just needs one more advanced qualifying score. We skipped Intermediate ducks with her - not sure if I'll not just kick her up to advanced cattle next time around or not. We'll see.

Nari in Advanced A ducks was a bit wigged out on Sat, find on Sunday, earning her first Advanced level leg and 1st place.

Joy wasn't paying much attention all around, but Q'd on Sunday in Advanced A ducks. Her B course runs were ok, lost a bit on the drive, but we got the shed both days without a whole lot of trouble - not bad on splitting them correctly, but she's still learning about turning on the two to hold them off. Hard job for a gathering dog.

Powder (Ariel and Frost) finished her PT on sheep on Saturday, and then moved up to play in started on Sunday - I got kinda lost on course when her sheep took off, so we lost too many points on the lift and fetch but other than her looking kinda wierded out by the larger space and presence of so many obstacles, she did ok. Shame she isn't going to get to do more - like so many people these days, her owner is having to make hard choices about showing and the economy.

Moose (Kate and Frost pup, around a year old) finished his PT just fine on Sunday, with me having to say very little other than for the stops and to release him from them. He seemed to have a ball, running on automatic - I love PT runs where I just walk and the dog just walks and the sheep just walk and I don't have to mess with anything.
