Brick at my feet, Jack at Marq's
Kestrel
Powwow
WhiskeyThe dogs all have different sleeping styles. Jack and Brick, being the most highly bonded to their specific people, are usually underfoot, within 0-1ft from their people. Brick is my dog, Jack is Marq's, both are very much one person dogs. Kestrel and Whiskey enjoy anyone's company, so they find their sleeping place in the same room as me, but not under my feet, usually 10 ft or so away. Pow is between 5 and 10ft away, and in this case, has fallen asleep suckling his toy. He has always done this and I attribute this to him losing his mother early in his puppyhood. It isn't stress related, just something he likes to do sometimes.
The other interesting thing is how to judge the temperature by the dogs' sleeping position if they are sleeping out in the open. Basically, the tighter they curl, the colder they think it is. Flat out=hot to neutral. On one hip=neutral. On one hip, head turned towards back feet=neutral to cool. From there on, the tighter the dog's curl, the colder it is, until the back feet tuckup and the tail covers the nose. Adjust for about 10 degrees difference or more between Catahoula degrees and Sheltie/Collie degrees.
