I love starting puppies

Right now I'm working on starting a rough collie boy from Deep River Collies for a sheep farm in Montana. He's learning obedience and all the basic chore stuff, as well as gaining confidence in dealing with stock. Pups are so much fun to work, they are sooo very proud of themselves when they see that the sheep are scared of them when they turn up the power.

Here's Brock, checking out a sheep I'm holding down. The future chores might be shearing, worming, injury checks or hoof trimming. Teaching the dog to inspect the sheep for injury is always a good thing.

Here's Brock - collie (get it?) with the whole flock - soon we'll learn to really pay attention to stragglers like Emily on the far right of the pic, but right now, we are learning to push push push.
