Hurrah for Rescue Dogs!

Here's a dog on sheep, first time, from Carolina Collie Rescue, after a month or so in his new home.

So, Snap herds. The sheep think he's herding, stay where he parks them when I call him off, he isn't sure about changing directions yet but that's ok. He tends to be a clockwise dog (but spins easier to his right than to his left).

So, rescue and shelter people - please remember that I'll test any dog in rescue or foster care that is coming up for adoption for FREE!. Really. I want you to know more about the dog in order to better place them, and I'd love for more people to do more stuff with their rescues. You CAN NOT TELL IF A DOG WILL HERD BY OBSERVATION OF DAILY BEHAVIORS!! You can't, so don't just put it to the side and say "oh, well, we don't think this one would herd." Bring them out and see. I'd be thrilled if more rescues would take me up on this, I should have my time completely filled with extra work from rescue.
