Been alleviating my desire for immediate gratification by placing a pup next to me on the bed while I work on the laptop. I figure the earlier I introduce Windows, Quicken and Gmail the better. They take turns and seem to think this situation is just fine. They have really gotten quiet the last two days, and sleep a ton. I think Whiskey finally has caught up on the milk supply side and keeps them pretty clean, so there's nothing to holler about.
I'll be keeping an eye on that sable merle boy - look at his weight gain! Zoom! He'll have to be watched on the height chart. At some point we'll transfer from the weight chart to the height chart and start playing the "Guess the finishing height of the sheltie" game. Yay. Fun. Not.
Whiskey has gone back to work aparently - helped Nova move sheep off the trailer when Meredith came back with the rest of the moms and lambs, then helped Pow take 3 lambs and Jake, the wether with the huge blown out abscess and load them up onto the trailer for Meredith to take back for Tara her BC to work. Happy as a clam to work - she probably would have gone right back the day or two after, but I figured I'd make her sit it out. Nice to know that the hormones didn't make her not want to work - I've heard horror stories of dogs quitting entirely after getting pregnant. Not so with her!
Jack has been doing some chores too, not too bad. Goats hate him. They can't get away with stuff for long with him!
Oh, by the way - eyes open from 10-18 days - so that'll be the next big step. The pups are already starting to be able to take a few steps without dragging their bellies, and as soon as the eyes open they'll really start moving around.
