I was teaching a herding clinic out in Farmville, Nc today and took Bridhe along to see that sheep (and rules) apply the same even in strange places. After my last litter, I am a firm believer of taking the pups at least 3-4 different herding venues, and practicing Stay/Recall/Walk up on a long line at least, even if too young to actually work the sheep ( or in the case that the sheep are not suitable for pups). This lets you practice all your control and impulse work, helps them generalize, and prevents as many crash and burns later when you start trialing. That's my theory at aleast.
