Oliver seems to be ready for this Sat's trial in Va, his debut in Novice Rally Obedience (AKC). Been taking him to Petco to work after I finish classes, and over to Bon-Clyde to work during their open obedience time. He seems to not mind the other dogs working, has pretty good attention which I can polish up in a couple of days, has his basics down - heel, sit stay, down stay, stand stay, sit from down, down from stand, flip and round finishes, schutzhund turns, etc. He's come a long way, and it seems that diet is a huge part of it. No corn, wheat, barley, or rice, nor chicken or turkey for him ( argh.....atleast it is the rehomed Yorkie that has allergies, not my shelties!). His temperament is drastically worse if given these things, the grains especially. The chronic ear infection he had when he came to me was ended that first week when I took out the grains, the itchiness was gone when I took out the poultry.
After his RN, I think we'll go for earthdog stuff, and agility. He acts almost like he's already had agility, but I think that's his natural fearlessness coming out - he jumps easily, goes on any of the contacts without a shred of doubt. Kinda wierd.
I'm also showing Joy ( Frost's litter sister) and Ariel (Powder's mom) for Kathy and Pam, in Advanced rally on Sat. Our next rally will be in concord in Nov. - will try to enter a bunch of dogs there - Nari (Pow puppy, litter sis to Brick and Jack), Kestrel and Jack would all be in Advanced. Might be able to get Powder in Novice, not sure. With any luck, Oliver will have his first title and have earned his place here by December.
