Albert isn't an ox....but sure looks like one

He's got another year to earn that title - it is both job and age related. He has to be 4-5 yrs old or older, and working, to be called an ox. Right now he's a working steer, just 3 yrs old. I might have to save up to buy him brass horn knobs for his 1st oxen birthday. He certainly doesn't look like a calf anymore though - even in the spring he did, but now he doesn't.

Albert is certainly looking good! Nice job hauling the hay bale too. Are you happy with the ox collar? Apparently it's working well.

I really do like the sweat pad/wooden hames combo. He's almost ready for the next size up. He is comfortable in it, it takes no time at all to put on - just as fast or faster than a yoke, and I know he's comfy and his movement is not restricted. Working in tight spaces, I can't have things sticking out from him that are going to snag on trees - his horns are bad enough, but he turns his head and figures those out himself.
